Sean Carson says he can’t remember the first song he sang in public but has been singing as long as he can remember. His father taught him guitar and he never had vocal lessons. His start in the music business was joining the family band.

Q&A WITH SEAN CARSON
DL: What instruments do you play, if any?
SC: Guitar, harmonica, bass, drums
DL: Are there other singers or musicians in your family?
SC: We are all musical!
DL: If you are a songwriter, what are some of your favorite songs you have written and why?
SC: Gentle Giant.. wrote this song about my Mom, the whole song is filled with real memories
DL: Who are some of the biggest musical influences in your life?
SC: My parents, then George Jones & Elvis
DL: What is your favorite style or genre of music and why?
SC: Traditional country music..
When you have something so stripped down, it really allows you to hear and focus on the message and feeling of a song
DL: What awards have you won or been nominated for?
SC: Won International band of the year twice
Nominated for Tennessee songwriter
DL: What is a unique opportunity you have had when it comes to performing?
SC: Doing a USO tour with Neal McCoy was a life changing experience. Playing the Grand Ole Opry was a dream come true!!
DL: Where is/are your favorite place(s) to perform?
SC: Anywhere that I am able to interact with the crowd.. we are definitely going to have fun
DL: What is your inspiration for your songs?
SC: Not to sound cliche.. but most of my songs come from my own personal experiences, happy and sad ones
DL: What do you find most challenging about the music business?
SC: That somehow now, our talent seems to be judged on our social media presence
DL: What is your favorite part of the music business and why? Your least favorite?
SC: My favorite part is and always will be making sure people are having a good time, they came to have fun, so if I can provide that, then I’m happy
Least favorite..? Not performing
DL: If you could perform with anyone in the music business who would it be and why?
SC: My Mom and Dad.. they are both gone now, but those were good times for me
DL: What advice do you have for anyone wanting to get in the music business as a singer/songwriter or musician?
SC: Do it!!!! And learn the difference between constructive criticism, and jealous comments.. there is a difference. One is helpful and the other can be crippling if you let it.
DL: Have you always wanted to be a singer/musician? If not, and you couldn’t be in the music business what career would you choose and why?
SC: Yes! Ever since I could remember
My other career would have been a rodeo cowboy 🤠
Is there anything you would like to add about your music journey or life in general?
Always always be you.. your people (in either world) will find you..
